Who should use the SteriShoe® ultraviolet shoe sanitizer?

Everyone should, but especially people with diabetes, nail fungus (onychomycosis), athlete's foot (tinea pedis), and bad shoe odor.

Think about it, you wash your clothes, you dry clean your clothes, but what do you do to the inside of your shoes? Considering that human feet sweat up to half a pint (that's 8 ounces!) per day, it's good hygiene to clean the inside of your shoes.

Unfortunately, people who have diabetes need to be very proactive about their foot health. One study has shown that people who have diabetes are over 150 times more likely to require an amputation if they develop a foot infection.

People with nail fungus and athlete's foot are potentially reinfecting themselves when they put their shoes on. The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer is proven to destroy the fungi that cause nail fungus and athlete's foot.

Shoe odor is a byproduct from certain bacteria. The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer is designed to destroy these bacteria inside shoes.

Is the SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer good for smelly shoes only or does it help with smelly feet as well?

The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer is applied to smelly shoes only and cannot be used on smelly feet. A pair of smelly shoes is a sign of odor causing bacteria living in your shoes. Bacteria prefer moist, dark and warm places. The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer eliminates up to 99.9% of odor causing bacteria in shoes. Sanitizing the inside of your shoes is a great way to provide a clean and healthy environment for your feet. Just like you wash your socks, you can now clean those smelly shoes.

What does the SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer do for people with sweaty feet?

The human foot has 250,000 sweat glands and we sweat up to one pint per day into our shoes. Shoe and foot odor causing bacteria thrive in this environment. The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer is the doctor recommended chemical free method to sanitize the inside of your shoes. The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer solves the bacteria problem in your shoes that is brought about by sweaty feet.

What if I am already treating my nail fungus or athlete's foot?

Use the SteriShoe® ultraviolet shoe sanitizer in conjunction with your other treatment. The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer will not cure your infection, but it will provide a cleaner environment for your feet.

Fungi are very resilient and can live in your shoe as spores, even if you don't wear a shoe for months. Think of a spore as a seed. Once you start to wear your shoe again, the perspiration and heat from your foot will cause the spores to grow. The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer destroys the fungi and other microorganisms inside shoes.

How do I use the SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer?

Insert the SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer into your shoe, connect the AC power adaptor, and press the on button. The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer will run for 45 minutes and then a timer will automatically turn it off. After that, you can remove it from your shoe or leave it in there, like a standard shoe tree, to help support the shape of your shoe. It’s that simple. Click here to see the instruction manual for the SteriShoe® ultraviolet shoe sanitizer.

This means that an error occurred while attempting to treat a shoe. This is to be expected if one of the SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer’s safety features has been activated. View the troubleshooting section of our instruction manual for more information.

How does the SteriShoe® ultraviolet shoe sanitizer work?

The SteriShoe® ultraviolet shoe sanitizer uses a specific wavelength of ultraviolet C light that is germicidal (253.7 nm). This is commonly called "germicidal UV" or "UVC." UVC is emitted by the sun, but it is completely filtered by our atmosphere.

Germicidal ultraviolet light is proven to destroy 99.9% of targeted microorganisms. We have tested the SteriShoe® ultraviolet shoe sanitizer with the number one, two, and three fungi that cause nail fungus and athlete's foot and verified these results. Shoe odor is caused by bacteria and we have verified that the SteriShoe® ultraviolet shoe sanitizer destroys bacteria as well.

How does the SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer help with shoe odor or smelly shoes?

Shoe odor is primarily caused by bacteria in your shoes. The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer helps remove the source of shoe odor and smelly shoes by destroying up to 99.9% of the bacteria in your shoe using UV germicidal light.

Why is the SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer better at fighting shoe odor than other methods?

The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer is very convenient to use. It works like a shoe tree and takes seconds to insert into a shoe. It is activated with a simple push of a button. Unlike sprays and powders that mask odor, germicidal UV light (UVC) is a proven and powerful way to kill bacteria and microorganisms. The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer harnesses this germicidal UVC light to eliminate shoe odor. It kills up to 99.9% of the shoe odor causing bacteria in your shoes.

Is the SteriShoe® ultraviolet shoe sanitizer dangerous?

When used as directed, the SteriShoe® ultraviolet shoe sanitizer is not dangerous. Ultraviolet light can be harmful if you look at it or bring it close to your skin. For these reasons, we have designed safety features into the SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer to prevent the lamp from lighting when it is not enclosed in a shoe.
